Swedish songwriter, musician and music producer Emanuel Olsson was born in 1976 into a family of music. His parents sang together as a duo and his sister is the well known background singer Jeanette Olsson. He has been working with music as his profession since 1995.
Growing up in the swedish protestant church, he quickly got used to playing in public and since his local church happened to house one of Sweden’s first gospel choir (they were not common in Sweden in the 80’s) he early on got a lot of influences from american gospel music.
In his early school years he studied classical piano and later also jazz piano at the school of “Södra Latin”. His piano style could be described to be inspired from many different classical, gospel, jazz and pop styles. He credits Oscar Petersson, Elton John and Per-Erik Hallin as three major influences.
He has for many years now been highly sought for as musical director, freelance pianist and arranger in the Swedish live scene. From 2018 to 2020 he worked as a musician at the show “Mamma Mia The Party” in Stockholm and has over the last years toured with major artists such as John Lundvik, The Mamas, Anders Glenmark and Sanna Nielsen.
Since 2019 he is musical director for the gospel choir “Tensta Gospel Choir”, and today he also has his own gospel choir, “Sabbatsbergs gospel”, in Gustaf Vasa Church in Stockholm, where he is pianist and conductor.
As a songwriter he has been working with publishing house Cosmos since the year 2003. His focus as a songwriter is to write “evergreens”, songs that can outlive a single performance or recording. As a music producer he puts most of the time into the vocal performance, which he thinks is the most important element in his songs, as they usually are quite vocally driven.
In 2020 Emanuel contributed as score composer for a major TV series , “The Last Journey of the Vikings” for Viaplay.
Beside creating music Emanuel enjoys spending time with his family or reading books on philosophy, history or copyright law. He also studies “Idéhistoria” (History of ideas) at University of Stockholm.
He’s an outspoken voice for artists, musicians and songwriters rights in Sweden. 2016-2018 he was the chairman of “UniSong”, an interest group for songwriters/music producers in Sweden. Board member of Skap (association for music creators in Sweden) since march 2022.
